Felgenhauer at the World’s Largest Mining Industry Fair – A Report from MINExpo 2024

From September 24 to 26, the mining industry fair took place in Las Vegas. MINExpo brought together international representatives, providing insights into the latest advancements and solutions for the sector. We had the opportunity to attend this event upon a special invitation from our business partner, PS Systems, with whom we presented a collaborative product. Here’s a brief report from our journey to the USA.

Attending MINExpo 2024

Held every four years, MINExpo brings together the world’s industry leaders, experts, and decision-makers. Over three days in Las Vegas, discussions focused on the sector’s future. Business relationships were built, and the latest mining solutions, equipment, and technologies were shown. With these goals in mind, Felgenhauer attended upon a special invitation from PSS. We presented our joint product – powered roof support sections, a project carried out for U.S. mines. More on this collaboration can be found in the article Behind the Scenes of the Felgenhauer and PS Systems Partnership.

This year’s edition saw over 43,000 registered attendees, and the fairgrounds spanned an area equal to fourteen soccer fields. The exhibitors included some of the most recognized brands and leaders in their industries, such as Liebherr, Caterpillar, Epiroc, Goodyear, and Komatsu.

Felgenhauer was represented by Wolfgang Felgenhauer, Konstantin Felgenhauer, Benedikt Felgenhauer, Daniel Mewes, Barbara Mewes, and Pamela Pecyna. Together with people representing PS Systems, we presented the product we had been working on together for the past few months. This event allowed both companies to present their offer to a global audience and establish new connections.

Strengthening Relationships

The fair wasn’t the only highlight of our U.S. trip. During our visit, we toured the Tunnel Ridge mine, where we could see our project in action underground, protecting human life. “Seeing the challenging environment where miners operate has given me a profound respect for their resilience. I’d like to thank Tom, Eric, and Colby for making this experience possible,” said Konstantin Felgenhauer.

We also attended a gala dinner hosted by Alliance, where our business partner was also present. It was the perfect occasion to strengthen our relationship in a more relaxed setting – accompanied by the music of Lionel Richie, whose concert we were invited to.

At the end of the fair, we attended an extraordinary show, “Postcard from Earth,” thanks to the hospitality of PSS. It took place in a futuristic, spherical arena 112 meters high and 157 meters in diameter, known for housing the world’s largest curved LED screen.

Acknowledgments

We would like to thank PS Systems for the invitation and the inspiring experience that may lead to new projects in the future. This trip was an excellent opportunity to further strengthen our relationship, confirming that both companies share similar values. “This trip was the culmination of a stage in our collaboration and has whetted our appetite for the years ahead,” notes Daniel Mewes, Managing Director of Felgenhauer Steelworks.
