New Machine, New Possibilities – Felgenhauer Expands Its Operations

Every growth requires investment. At first, to start running, all you need are comfortable clothes. However, as you reach a higher level, investing in professional footwear becomes essential. The same applies to businesses. Some tasks can be performed manually or using existing equipment, but when the number of clients and orders increases, acquiring new machines is no longer an option—it becomes a necessity.

Elumatec SBZ 151 – A State-of-the-Art Machining Center

At the end of 2023, Felgenhauer’s machine park was expanded with a new addition—the Elumatec SBZ 151, designed for the efficient processing of aluminum and thin-walled steel profiles.

Aluminum requires different handling than steel. The tool must operate at the right speed, which is why high-speed equipment is used. In the case of the Elumatec SBZ 151, the machining unit positions at a speed of 66m/min, and processing takes place simultaneously on six sides. Additionally, the machine quickly changes tools, ensuring an optimal machining cycle. Furthermore, it features two separate zones, allowing for pendulum mode operation.

Key Features of the Elumatec SBZ 151:

  • Designed for milling, drilling, thread cutting, tapping, notching, and cutting aluminum profiles over 20m long
  • Simultaneous processing on six sides
  • Secure profile immobilization to protect surfaces
  • Short tool change time
  • Pendulum mode operation
  • 13 standard tools and 7 special tools
  • Remote maintenance

The machine has already been installed at Felgenhauer’s facility. However, before mass production begins, it must be programmed to optimize the entire process. “Specialists from Elumatec, together with our programmers, are working on commissioning the machine. We configure the first component, select tools and machining parameters, and analyze the material’s behavior. We also consider possible optimizations. Sometimes, simply changing the order of operations makes future work faster and more efficient. All of this helps prevent errors in the production stage,” explains Daniel Kozik, Project Manager at Felgenhauer.

A New Addition to Felgenhauer’s Offerings

Until now, Felgenhauer’s extensive portfolio included parts and structures made of steel. Acquiring an aluminum machining machine is a step toward expanding the company’s offerings and entering a new industry segment, ensuring even greater stability. From the outset, it is crucial to guarantee the highest quality for clients, which is made possible through the use of high-end equipment.

“This ensures that not only our work and order completion times are predictable but also the quality of the final product. We maintain a very high level of production consistency, giving our customers confidence that each element will be identical. This significantly simplifies assembly, where even the smallest variation can complicate the process. We eliminate that problem,” adds Daniel Kozik.

Felgenhauer posiada bogato rozbudowany park maszynowy. Znajdują się w nim urządzenia i maszyny, które służą m.in. do: cięcia, gięcia, spawania, obróbki skrawaniem oraz wykonania zabezpieczeń antykorozyjnych. Felgenhauer boasts a well-developed machine park, featuring equipment for cutting, bending, welding, machining, and corrosion protection. More details can be found here.
